SEASON / REGISTRATION
Boys Volleyball is a Spring sport (March-May) with registration beginning in January/February. League matches are played Monday-Friday over a six week period, with home contests being played in the QP Gymnasium. A season-ending single elimination tournament is played in May. Tournament matches are not typically held in the team’s home gym.
Girls Volleyball is a Fall sport (August-October) with registration beginning in April/May. League matches are played on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday over a seven week period, with home contests played in the QP Gymnasium. A season-ending single elimination tournament is played in October. Tournament matches are not typically played in the team’s home gym.
Boys and girls in grades 3 through 8 may register to play volleyball. Players may be Queen of Peace School or Parish students.
$110 per player, including a refundable deposit if the volunteer obligation is met and full uniform is returned at the end of the season.
Adult volunteers are needed to work concessions, collect admissions, and operate the scoreboard. Each team should also provide an adult (18yrs or over) line judge to help the official. A parent/guardian is expected to volunteer to work at least 2 games per player.
Both boys and girls volleyball team play in the Greater Cincinnati Catholic Youth Sports league (GCCYS). League rules and other information (e.g., season timeline, tournaments, gym locations) is available on the GCCYS website at gccys.com. The league’s mandatory liability waiver is also found on this site.
We could not have teams without volunteer coaches. Each team needs one head coach, and at least one assistant coach. Scorebook keepers are required for GCCYS teams. Both parents and non-parents are encouraged to volunteer their time to coach a team. Please indicate your interest in coaching and/or scorebook keeping on the registration form.
Team practices are typically held two afternoons/evenings per week in the QP Gymnasium for 1-2 hours, depending upon grade level. Parents are expected to have their child at each practice, and ready to participate immediately, upon the scheduled start time.
